FOR RICH MOORE
Richard E. Moore, DDS
1943 - 2020

You're probably wondering why it's taken SO many months to write Rich's story.
Well... it's because there's so much to tell!
Rich Moore lived his life in a big, energetic way.
He was a hard charger and bent on pursuing every and any dream that popped into his head and his heart.
And anyone who knew him was pulled into his adventures.
Ready - or not.
SEND A MEMORY OF RICH
There are so many things to say about Rich Moore... Where to begin?
So... What Happened?
A stroke brought an end to Richard's hard-fought, many years-long battle with "Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) with Parkinsonism" on October 28, 2020. And, man, did he put up a fight.
The diagnosis didn't come until seven months before, but perhaps it was a blessing that neither he nor his loved ones knew what had really been happening within him for the previous 8-10 years. You see, "Lewy" is a bastard and takes no prisoners: There is no cure, nor is there hope for beating it back. It was, as they say, a long good-bye.

Though it's the second leading cause of dementia (the first being Alzheimer's Disease), LBD is a relatively unknown and underdiagnosed neuro-degenerative disease which brings its own set of unique challenges when it comes to diagnosis, its mysterious progression, and the management of constantly shifting and unpredictable symptoms. If you would like to know more about Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsonism, some straightforward resources are the Lewy Body Dementia Association, Very Well Health, or the Mayo Clinic websites. By learning more, you can help spread understanding and awareness.
